So what kind of work do you do, Margaret?

I used to be an executive with United Free Trade Planets, but recently I'm the co-owner of a freighter class ship and I manage its crew, which does contract work.

[they are space mercenaries, basically.]

Huh... Was it anything like this ship?

Not really. Much smaller, much older, fewer accommodations. We can man it with six people.

But you traveled in space?

I'm learning that's unusual for most of you. I haven't lived planetside since I was in school.

That's amazing! It must be really expensive to run a spaceship...

It's not a large ship, but...yes. They tend to get damaged.

Really? By what?

Bombardments from other ships, mostly? The occasional really beefed up droid.

[i mean they have not one but two military personnel so it seems possible.]

You mean you get into space-battles with other ships!? That's really a thing!?

Generally we try not to get into space battles with other ships. We only recently updated our shields, but they haven't been the best. But it happens.

Yikes... I hope it doesn't happen to us here.

I mean, it sounds like we have defenses and all, but most of us here wouldn't know what to do in an emergency...

What makes you say that?

I mean, a whole bunch of us have never been on a spacecraft before, and we're not exactly a cohesive group... y'know?

[bossbabygirl]

I don't know that not being on a spacecraft is all that detrimental. Spacecraft knowledge can be learned and cohesion can be gained. Don't write us off just yet.

Whoa! You're really optimistic.

Sure. I wouldn't call it optimism, though. I just think a disparate bunch of people with their own sets of skills can be a pretty powerful asset as long as there's some coordination.
