I do believe when people talk about how the nanites already force us all to move when we don't want to, there's some credibility to that he might have been influenced to kill.

Scien always talked like he was worried the nanites could be used to control us, and stuff...
I mean, it isn't weird for him to just come out and say creepy stuff whenever he feels like it, but if that turned out to be on-point, that's even more creepy...
I don't think at a time like this Mr. Brofiise would say something creepy to mess with us all. Odd as he is, I'm sure he can read the room well enough.

What he did was really horrible, but his actions, and his reasons... they don't make any sense.
